Full Bio
Gemma Fox is an award-winning British recording artist and topline songwriter whose career spans more than two decades of UK R&B, Garage, Bassline and underground music — and is now entering an exciting new chapter across the UK and US.
Her breakthrough single "Girlfriend's Story" featuring MC Lyte reached #38 on the UK Singles Chart and #8 on the Official R&B Chart, helping earn Gemma a MOBO Best Newcomer nomination and an Urban Music Award for Best R&B Act. Her major-label debut album, Messy (Polydor Records), saw her work with an international line-up of producers and artists including Chucky Thompson, Stargate, Midi Mafia, Johnny Douglas, Dexplicit, MC Lyte, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones and Rodney P.
Gemma has since built an extensive independent catalogue spanning R&B, UK Garage, Bassline and House. Releases including "Might Be," "Boxers," "Gone," "Veins" and "Operator" have contributed to millions of streams and numerous UK club and dance chart appearances. Her contribution as a featured artist has also resulted in three Gold and two Silver certification plaques.
Today, songwriting sits firmly at the centre of Gemma's career. She is now part of a US-facing production and songwriting team alongside Eric "88 Fingaz" Parham — whose work connects to artists including Erykah Badu, Jennifer Hudson and T-Boz of TLC — and Darryl Perry, who brings decades of relationships spanning Bobby Brown, New Edition, Boyz II Men and Jagged Edge. Together, the team is building a transatlantic pipeline connecting Gemma's distinctive UK songwriting perspective with contemporary American R&B.
Gemma currently has a song on the forthcoming album from Lewis (previously of Western), planned as the project's second single. She is also developing and writing with A'namii, sister of global R&B/pop star Normani, and with Atlanta R&B artist Torion Sellers (TORIÒN) — who appeared on Season 26 of NBC's The Voice as part of Team Michael Bublé. Further collaborations include acclaimed US songwriter Ursula Yancy, whose credits include co-writing Rihanna's "Skin" and Jennifer Lopez's "Troubeaux."
Gemma is an official songwriter for The House & Garage Orchestra. Her first release with the collective, "Take Care" featuring Grammy-nominated US R&B powerhouse Syleena Johnson, is out now. She has also recently written new music with producer and DJ N Fostell, continuing to build new records across R&B, House, Garage and Afro House.
Gemma's contribution to British music has been recognised by the Victoria & Albert Museum, where she features as part of the "Music Is Black" exhibition celebrating Black British music and culture. She hosts her own monthly radio show on Pure FM, broadcasting on the last Friday of every month at 10PM. She is the founder of Fox Music Records and Fox Music Consultancy, working across A&R, publishing, catalogue acquisition, artist development, label strategy and music rights. In Q3 2026, she closed several catalogue acquisitions within the US.
