1995
First steps in music
Growing up in North London, Gemma Fox begins writing songs and performing at local venues and community events. Music becomes the language she uses to make sense of the world around her.
1999
UK garage scene
Immersed in the emerging UK garage scene, Gemma starts collaborating with producers and DJs across North and East London. She develops her signature vocal style — raw, melodic, and unmistakably British.
2002
Early recordings & buzz
Word spreads through the underground circuit. Gemma's early recordings circulate on pirate radio and white labels, building a loyal following before any major label involvement.
2003
Signed to Polydor Records
Key momentPolydor Records — home to some of the biggest names in British music — signs Gemma Fox. One of the few UK garage artists to secure a major label deal at the height of the genre.
2004
Girlfriend's Story — UK Top 40
Key momentDebut single Girlfriend's Story enters the UK Top 40. Co-written and produced by Gemma, the track showcases her ability to blend street-level storytelling with radio-ready production.
2005
Messy — debut album (Polydor)
Key momentDebut album Messy released on Polydor Records. Gemma writes and co-produces the majority of the record — a bold statement of artistic ownership rare for a debut artist on a major label.

MOBO Award — Urban Music Award
Key momentRecognised at the MOBO Awards with an Urban Music Award nomination, cementing Gemma Fox's place at the forefront of UK urban music during the height of her Polydor campaign.
2006
BBC 1Xtra & national radio
Regular rotation on BBC 1Xtra and national radio stations. Gemma becomes a recognisable voice in UK urban music, performing at festivals and headline shows across the country.
2007
Bassline genre & Fox Ents label founded
Key momentGemma Fox moves into the emerging bassline scene, becoming one of its defining voices. Her productions and vocal features help shape the sound that would go on to dominate UK underground clubs. Fox Ents is founded the same year, laying the groundwork for her independent empire.
2008
"Queen of Bassline" — the title sticks
Key momentThe music press and peers begin calling Gemma Fox the Queen of Bassline. The title reflects her central role in developing and popularising the genre across the UK.
2025
Fox Music Records — label launched
Key momentFox Music Records launches as the evolution of Fox Ents, originally founded in 2007. Gemma takes full creative and commercial control of her output under the new imprint — a home for emerging UK urban talent and a vehicle for her production and A&R work.

Fox Music Consultancy
Key momentLaunches Fox Music Consultancy, offering artist development, A&R guidance, and industry mentoring. Gemma begins sharing two decades of hard-won knowledge with the next generation.

V&A Museum commission
